A "bunny hop" (or basically a "bronco" in this example) refers to jumping both the front and back wheel off the ground at the same time. It looks cool, and it is very easy! The bunny hop is really a combination of two moves, which you must master individually and then combine before you can start bunny hopping over obstacles with ease. Here's how to bring it all together. It may seem hard at first but keep trying.

tourdefrancetips.com- Lean back while riding at a very slow speed. straighten your arms and legs. Pull the bike up with your arms. Use the momentum you get from shifting your center of gravity back.
- Use your arms to pull the bike the rest of the way up (once you've gotten it as high as you can by just leaning) until the bike's standing up, and you're standing up with it.
then "pedal" to lift the bike up. Your pedals should stay level through the whole maneuver. - Come down gently. You haven't mastered the front pull until you can "place" the behind down, rather than just let it "slap" the ground.
- 2Master the hip hop.
- Shift your weight forward. Do it quickly, but not so quickly that you "throw" yourself forward and shake the bike.
- Turn the pedals so that your feet are almost vertical.
- Press back against the pedals as you push your legs up. The pressure you apply to the pedals, with your feet in a horizontal position, will keep your feet on the bike as you pull the back end up with your leg muscles.
- Come back down gently.
- 3Combine the front pull and the hip hop.
- Shove your mass into the ground through the back wheel when you're doing your front pull. It'll give the rear wheel a bit of "bounce" to take off when you move into the back hop.
- When your front wheel is in the air, turn your pedals vertically as described for the back hop, and use the push/pull motion to get the back wheel up (while the front is still in the air).
- Level your bike in the air. This is an important habit to establish for when you eventually start bunnyhopping onto higher surfaces. Also to get a more of an even look during the bunny hop try to squeeze your legs together.
- Put your rear wheel down first. It stabilizes your landing and makes controlling the bike afterwards easier.
- 4Practice bunnyhopping over various obstacles, each time increasing their height, until you feel comfortable bunnyhopping. Many people can bunnyhop obstacles taller than 3 feet tall!
- 5Bringing both tires up at the same time: This involves jumping, just like you would on the ground, except you are one with your pedals. Simply jump while twisting forward on the handle bars of the bike, but don't let your feet come off the pedals. If you keep your feet on the pedals and jump, the back end will come up. Then you can simply bring up the front end at the same time...just by pulling up without pedaling just like in this article. But try learning the other method this one takes more energy, looks less professional, does some serious damage on the skin of your hands, and you can't jump as high.
- 6An easier way to do small "bunny hops" is to mount cleats on your bike. Cleats basically mean your feet are attached to the bike. When doing this, all you need to do to get the bike in the air is to jump up as you normally would. Be careful when you are using this method, as your feet will only come out of the cleats when you flick your ankles out. Many people impress their friends when doing this, and then stop, and forget to take the shoes out of the pedals, and subsequently fall off.

Tips
- If you want to go really high, then you will need to work on your technique, and make sure you tuck the back wheel up underneath you. Keep practicing--it's the same as lifting weights, and it's a great workout for your arms.
- Try to practice on a light-weight bike. Start jumping using a smaller bike. The difference in weight and mobility is critical to beginning jumps.
- Try jumping over cardboard boxes, or small piece of wood that will fall over easily if hit.
- Hopping high on the flat ground for no reason is hard. You will jump higher if you have something to jump over.
- If you wish to be able to do the bunny hop backwards (getting your rear wheel off first), you could do a stoppie (getting some speed and hitting the front brake just enough to get the back wheel off the ground) while thrusting your weight onto your front tire and then slinging your weight backwards while holding on to the handlebars and when the rear wheel is still up.
- If bunny hopping using a mountain bike it helps to preload the front shocks (To hop and have the momentum of the shocks lifting you up also giving you more air.
